SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Mauresa Mitchell, a graphic design and advertising teacher at Don Tyson School of Innovation, has been selected as one of 12 finalists in a national classroom furniture giveaway hosted by furniture manufacturer KI.
Mitchell was chosen from over 500 educators who submitted designs for their ideal classroom, according to a news release. Now, she has the chance to win $40,000 worth of new classroom furniture to bring her vision to life.
The giveaway contest, which has narrowed down the field to a select group of finalists, is moving to the public voting stage. Mitchell is vying for votes against two other finalists in her region.
Mitchell’s design concept centers around an adaptable, inclusive classroom with a reconfigurable floor plan that supports a wide range of activities, from website design to marketing campaigns, creating space for students to explore and pursue their interests.
“This classroom would allow students to learn in ways that are meaningful to them, no matter what their post-graduation plans are,” Mitchell said. “The goal is to create an environment where students are excited to come in every day and explore their creative potential.”
Supporters of Mrs. Mitchell’s vision can cast their vote now at ki.com/giveaway until Sunday, Nov. 17 at 11:59 p.m. CT. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
