GREEN BAY, WIS. - KI recently hosted a panel discussion in Chicago led by Susan Szenasy, editor-in-chief of Metropolis magazine, titled "Back to the Future: Why companies like Yahoo!, Bank of America and Best Buy are Recalling Workers to the Office." The event took place in KI's Merchandise Mart showroom where attendees enjoyed a multi-dimensional discussion about the evolution of the modern workplace. Panelists included (from left to right):
- Susan Szenasy, editor-in-chief, Metropolis magazine (moderator)
- Rob Kirkbride, editor, The Monday Morning Quarterback
- Shawn Green, vice president, design and product marketing, KI
- Tom Marquardt, principal and founder, Marquardt+
- Hannah McMinn, corporate real estate manager, Mesirow Financial
- Angie Earlywine, vice president, strategic consulting, Jones Lang LaSalle
"Companies are calling people back to the office because they are recognizing the importance of personal connections," said Shawn Green. "They understand that you can work from anywhere, but will you be truly connected? It's not about technology or even collaboration. It's about addressing the human element of workspace design and the value of literal face-to-face social interactions."
