Dan Cramer

Dan Cramer established Cramer Studio in 1982 after earning an MFA in Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Cramer Studio designs and develops products for healthcare, corporate and residential interior spaces. Clients include: KI, Gunlocke, HON, AGI, Sanus Systems, Fixtures, Brandrud and Bel Canto Design.

Cramer’s designs have received five gold and silver awards for Best of NeoCon. The Soltice Collection, designed for KI and in collaboration with Paul James, won the Nightingale Award in 2005. Cramer also received two International Design Resource Awards for environmentally responsible consumer products. Molti, designed for Gunlocke, became the largest selling chair in that company’s 107-year history.

Cramer has been granted numerous patents for his designs. His products have been exhibited around the world and published in many of the international design journals. He also serves as Adjunct Faculty at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Paul James
Paul James

Paul James is an industrial designer accomplished at developing products that connect consumer’s hearts and minds with the brands for which he designs. His broad corporate experiences in design, marketing, engineering, and manufacturing have given Paul the skills, perspective and empathy necessary to work effectively and credibly amid organizational disciplines to develop shared insight, compelling concepts, and market-proven successes.

Paul has worked for many brands including KI, Williams Sonoma Inc., Wenger Corporation, Crate and Barrel, Blu Dot, Fixtures Furniture Inc., Safco Products Company, Gunlocke, Allsteel, Touchstone Lighting, and I Made That, Inc. His work has been recognized with numerous awards including Interior Design Magazine Best of Year Roscoe Award, Best of NEOCON 2006 (Silver Award), 2005 Nightingale Award, The Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal Award (2004), The National Parenting Center's Seal of Approval (2004), Best Furniture, ICFF 2003; Best of NEOCON 2001 (two Silver Awards), Acclaim Award (1997), IIDA APEX Award (1996).

Prior to establishing James Design, Paul directed the design and development departments for several furniture companies in both the contract and residential markets. He has earned a master’s degree in Industrial Design, and undergraduate degrees in both Math and Economics. He has taught Industrial Design at Rochester Institute of Technology, lectured at Cornell University, Syracuse University, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and University of Minnesota, and presented at professional organizations including IDSA, IIDA, and AIGA.
